Why Join A Trade Association?

Studies have shown there are seven major reasons why people join associations such as the CAR Association. As an association member, you can be proud of the fact that by working together with auto dealers across the state you have helped create an association that addresses every one of these seven important business needs.

1. Information About What Is Happening In Your Field And How Events Might Affect Your Business Life.

Through the Newsletter, the CAR Association keeps you abreast of business information that affects your dealership, including management tips, market trends, government policies and current industry events. In addition, the Association publishes information on specific topics of interest in periodic Dealer Alert Bulletins when time is of the essence.

2. Support For The Group Representing Your Industry In The Political Arena.

The CAR Association gives you a strong voice in government. Your Association is involved in each state legislative session on a full-time basis, identifying and tracking all bills relative to our industry and keeping members regularly informed with periodic Legislative Update Bulletins. Through its Legislative Committee the CAR Association keeps the Connecticut Legislature and state officials in tune with the automobile retailing industry.

3. Networking, and 4. Forum For Ideas - Developing Contacts and Sharing Ideas Through Association Communications, Group Meetings and Conventions.

Each year, the CAR Association draws dealers from throughout the state to take part in workshops, business meetings, exhibits and social events. The yearly gatherings provide a perfect opportunity to exchange information and ideas that dealers use to improve their business. It's also a great time to enjoy some fun, relaxation and entertainment among industry friends, both old and new. This year's social events and dates to remember are 1. The Annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Lake of Isles Golf Club in North Stonington; and 2. The VIP Charity Preview Gala and Fundraiser in conjunction with the 2012 Connecticut International Auto Show on Thursday November 1, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the Connecticut Convention Center.  Look for more information on both these events through the mail and in the newsletters!

5. Continuing Education Opportunities To Enhance Skills and Efficiency.

Dealer seminars, workshops and meetings are conducted at various times throughout the state to assist dealers and their staff in various aspects of business operations.

6. Professional Ethics - Establishing and Maintaining High Standards of Conduct Within Your Industry.

The CAR Association has a continuing commitment to development of, and adherence to, high standards of conduct in all facets of automobile retailing, including advertising, installment sales, maintenance and repairs, to cite only a few. We also work cooperatively with various governmental agencies and the Legislature, while providing ongoing dealer education to that end.

7. Pocketbook Benefits.

Your association group insurance offerings, endorsed business services and regional education all represent outstanding values for your dollar.

All seven points relate to one basic concept: that of people working together to accomplish what one could not do alone. The CAR Association was formed with this concept in mind 90 years ago, and through your support and participation, our organization has benefited large and small dealerships alike throughout Connecticut since that time.
